Bryce James

City Council - Position 1 Lake Forest Park, WA

🌿 Vote Bryce

Rooted in Lake Forest Park. Driven by balance.
Focused on the future.

I believe in balance—in life, in leadership, and in the way we serve our communities. Whether it’s the head and the heart, the left and right, or tradition and progress, real solutions come from bridging divides.

Lake Forest Park is out of balance—financially and in connection with its citizens. I’m running for City Council to help restore that balance with experience, integrity, and collaboration.

🌿A Lifetime of Experience in Finance and Service

With over 40 years in money management and entrepreneurship, I bring deep expertise and a grounded perspective to the world of finance. Background:

  • Registered Investment Advisory: Advising individuals, corporations, and institutions on investment strategy, financial planning, and corporate finance, with a focus on long-term value and ethical practice

  • Portfolio Management for mutual fund families, hedge funds, brokerage firms, Sovereign Nations, ERISA plans, 403(b) plans, foundations, corporations and individual clients

  • Risk Management, asset allocation, financial modeling, and computational finance

  • Financial Technology: Founded PorfolioMason, LLC, the complete ETF investment platform that provides a comprehensive suite of easy-to-use quantitative tools to build and manage winning investment portfolios. Instrumental in the creation of Sharebuilder, bought by ING, then Capital One, and later E*TRADE (bought by Morgan Stanley)

  • Investment Consultant: Certified Investment Management Consulting (CIMA®) for corporations, ERISA clients, foundations & endowments, and High Net-Worth Investors

  • Business Leadership, including founding and leading multiple finance and fintech firms

  • Educator & Mentor, teaching finance and entrepreneurship at leading business schools

But beyond numbers and strategies, I’ve spent decades helping people—from boardrooms to ski slopes to healing circles—grounding my work in integrity, resilience, and community connection.

🌿A Life of Service to Community and Nature

I believe in the power of small, consistent acts of service.

Whether it’s lending a hand, listening with care, or showing up when it matters—I strive to be of service in ways that strengthen our community"

🌿Deep Roots in Lake Forest Park

Stewards of LFP property for over 75 years.

For over seventy-five years, my family has called Lake Forest Park home. We’ve served as stewards of this land—protecting Lyons Creek, preserving sacred trees, and honoring the legacy of the Duwamish and Suquamish Peoples who once cared for it.

From my grandparents’ civic leadership to my mother founding Super Jock ‘n Jill—the premier running store in the Pacific Northwest—our family’s story is woven into the fabric of this community across four generations.

We’ve been neighbors to artists, doctors, internment camp survivors, and even a hydroplane legend. Among my family’s achievements: Abrother wo is a 2-time Olympian, a grandfather who was University of Washington’s first basketball All-American, a great uncle who founded the Woodland Park Lawn Bowling Club and the first Beekeeper Society in Puget Sound, and a father honored as ‘The father of the Castle Air Museum’ in Atwood, California.

Our story is Lake Forest Park’s story—a legacy reflected in the crest, crafted by my grandmother, that hangs proudly at Shorecrest. We all have been proud to call Lake Forest Park home.
